The Method

The Pilates method consists of a varying repertoire of exercises and intelligent principles of fitness performed directly on a mat (matwork) or with the use of specific equipment. The main objective of the method is to develop body balance by strengthening and lengthening the muscles, focusing on the core, pelvis stabilization and the back. The result is improved posture, increased strength, coordination and flexibility.

The Pilates method can be practiced as a sport by itself or as a complementary activity for athletes and dancers or as a method for rehabilitation. Its eight principles are: Concentration, Breathing, Powerhouse (core), Control, Precision, Movement fluidity, Body balance and Repetition.
